One health – looking after you and your pet


The current public health priority continues to affect how we are able to deliver veterinary care for your pets. The re-introduction of tighter restrictions this month has again limited the services we can offer and how they can be delivered.  We will continue to allow clients to bring their pets into the practice. This controlled access will be subject to a number of strict rules in order to keep both you and our team as safe as possible. We can provide the majority of our veterinary services, but we ask for your patience and understanding when making more routine appointments as they continue to be more limited than usual. We are unable to offer any nurse or visiting vet appointments and the East Dean surgery will close again from November 5th. Please do not come to the practice without calling first so we can prepare for your arrival.

  • Please do not come to the practice if you or anyone in your household has symptoms of COVID-19. Please telephone and we will advise you whether someone else should bring your pet to the practice or if your problem can be solved remotely with a telephone or video consultation. These are charged at £41.56 but this is refunded if an appointment at the practice is deemed necessary.
  • Please do not enter the practice unless you are asked to do so. Owners collecting pets or medications will still be asked to wait outside.
  • Only one pet owner will be allowed into the waiting area with their pet.  The vet will talk to you at a two-metre distance or by phone so please bring your mobile telephone. A nurse will collect your pet and hold the pet for the examination and any treatments.
  • Please wear a mask or face covering, use the hand sanitiser provided, follow our directions and maintain the two-metre social distancing rule as far as possible.



Keeping a Social Distance

We continue to strictly enforce social distancing rules so please respect the instructions you are given at the practice. There are appointments available at the St Annes Road surgery, Willingdon and Langney, but surgery hours can vary so please do not attend without one. The visiting vet service will not be available.


We only allow contactless methods of card payment. We will allow contactless collection of medications, bulky goods and insulin supplies by prior arrangement from St Annes Road, Willingdon or Langney. All routine flea and worm products can be posted after pre-payment including a £4 (second class) or £5 (first class) post and packing fee. When necessary, delivery of food and medication will continue but we cannot promise the timescale.



At our St Annes Road surgery we have limited parking at the rear of the practice, short stay parking bays outside the practice on St Annes Road, and a client car park next to number 4 St Annes Road (two doors down the hill). During the COVID restrictions there are often clients with pets waiting on the driveway. Please only come down the drive if you have expressly been told to do so, and always drive with extreme care. If you have not been asked to park behind the practice, please use the alternative parking options.


Our people

We follow government guidelines and use PPE, distancing and hand washing as appropriate to limit any potential contact with COVID-19. Please respect the guidance and keep your distance from our people and other clients.



To reduce unnecessary visits to the practice we have risk assessed our vaccine appointments. Puppies, kittens and rabbits can continue to be vaccinated. Cats and dogs due their first booster will also be seen. We will vaccinate older dogs and cats where necessary to maintain a good immunity. Please request vaccine appointments using the ‘book appointments’ button on the website as the phone lines can get very busy.


Looking to the future

We hope that the winter lockdown will be as short as planned and that we can increase our services again in the near future. Please understand that we are doing our best to deliver good service at a challenging time.

All appointments are subject to availability and we will prioritise our pet health plan members with regard to vaccine boosters, health checks and neutering surgeries. If you are hoping to have your pet neutered please email us on and we will contact you when we can offer a date for surgery.
