Pet Health Plan with Covid-19

Delivering your Pet Health Plan during COVID restrictions.

One health – looking after you and your pet

The current public health emergency continues to affect how we are able to deliver veterinary care for your pets. We have put procedures in place so that when we need to attend your pet, we can do so while protecting our team and our clients. Please follow the instructions you are given when coming to the practice.

When your pet is unwell, in pain or injured.

We will always attend to any pet that has an urgent problem. You should always call 01323 640011 if this is the case. When we are closed you will be directed to our emergency service. We may offer you a phone or video consultation if we feel we can deal with the problem remotely. If we advise a physical consultation, this will always be at our St Annes Road surgery. When you attend you will not be allowed into the building, and the vet or nurse will come out to you and retrieve your pet. Please bring a mobile phone and a credit or debit card to allow us to keep any transactions contactless. Please also respect social distancing guidelines with regard to our team and other clients.

When your pet is due for vaccination.

We are limited in the type of routine vaccinations that we can offer. Consequently we are not sending out reminders for you pets vaccination when it is due. We are currently contacting dog owners to arrange timely booster appointments to avoid any lapse in vaccination of over 3 months. We are also vaccinating puppies from 8 weeks and kittens from 12 weeks as well as giving vaccines to rabbits. We are currently deferring adult cat vaccines.

If you think your pet qualifies for a vaccine appointment, please complete the appointment request form on the website . This can be accessed via the ‘book appointments’ button at the top of the website banner. From May 14th there will be vaccine booster appointments available at the Langney surgery in addition to those at St Annes Road.

When your pet is due flea and worm treatment.

Please contact us in the usual way to request your next supply of flea and worm treatments. You can reply to our dose reminder messages, phone the practice on 01323 640011, or complete the repeat prescription form on the website. We are able to post out routine treatments at a charge of £4 post and packing for second class, £5 for first class. If you prefer, you can collect products from St Annes Road by prior arrangement, or we can deliver in certain circumstances, but there is no guaranteed timescale for this service.

When your pet is due for neutering.

During the COVID restrictions we have been limited to essential anaesthesia only and have therefore only neutered pets where there is an immediate health benefit. We hope that we will soon be allowed to perform routine procedures again so please let us know if you are waiting to have your pet neutered. You can email us at, or use the ‘book appointments’ button on the website. We can then contact you when we are ready to start again. Remember your pet health plan gives you a 10% discount on any neutering procedure.

When your pet needs a nail clip.

As we are limited to urgent appointments only, we are only able to perform nail clipping once your pet is lame or uncomfortable. Your health plan benefits will remain in place for the duration of your plan and can be used as the restrictions are relaxed. Contact us if you think your pet needs an urgent appointment by calling 01323 640011.

When your pet is due a six month health check.

Unfortunately we are currently unable to offer routine examinations for well pets. We anticipate that restrictions will begin to be relaxed in June and we will have available appointments again. If you want us to contact you at that time, please email or use the ‘book appointments’ button on the website

Thank you for joining our pet health plan and being part of the St Annes Vets community. We hope to continue to support you through this difficult time.
